  • The fall led to a brain bleed. He was later hospitalized, placed on a ventilator, and put on life support.

  • Family and medical staff reportedly considered withdrawing life support when his condition showed no improvement.

  • He passed away October 16, 2025, at his home in Morristown, New Jersey, surrounded by loved ones.

Legacy & Career Highlights

  • Born: Paul Daniel Frehley on April 27, 1951, in New York.

  • He joined forces with Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, and Peter Criss in the early 1970s to form KISS (1973).

  • Frehley became known as the band’s “Spaceman” or “Space Ace” persona — characterized by silver face paint and cosmic imagery.

  • Onstage, he was famous for using special-effect guitars (smoke, pyrotechnics, etc.).

  • In 1978, he released a solo album as part of a KISS simultaneous solo project; his “New York Groove” hit became one of the more successful tracks from that project.

  • Frehley left KISS in 1982 amid creative differences and personal struggles.

  • He formed his own band, Frehley’s Comet, and pursued a solo career.

  • In the mid-‘90s, he rejoined KISS for a reunion, performing with them through the late 1990s and early 2000s.

  • KISS (including Frehley) was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.

  • His last solo studio album, 10,000 Volts, was released in 2024 — his final recorded contribution.

Many musicians and fans have cited his tone, stage presence, and fearless approach as deeply influential, especially within glam rock and hard rock circles.

Reactions & Tributes

  • Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley released a joint statement calling Frehley “an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier.”
