Trump publicly revealed that Rep. Neal Dunn had previously received a terminal heart diagnosis

In a surprising moment during a public event, Donald Trump revealed that Neal Dunn, a Republican congressman from Florida, had previously received a terminal medical diagnosis—information that had not been publicly disclosed before. The comments immediately drew attention in political and media circles because they exposed private health details during a live conversation with Mike Johnson, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.

Trump also claimed that his intervention helped reverse the situation by connecting the congressman with specialized medical care, leading to a dramatic recovery.

The incident occurred during a meeting and press appearance at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Trump and Johnson were discussing the narrow Republican majority in the House when Trump suddenly brought up the illness of a fellow Republican lawmaker. 

At first, Trump hinted that one member was “very ill” and had been given a grim prognosis. He then pressed Johnson to confirm the details publicly. Johnson reluctantly acknowledged that the congressman had received a “terminal diagnosis.”

Trump quickly added a striking remark, saying doctors had told the lawmaker he could be “dead by June.” The comment appeared to catch Johnson off guard, who responded that the information had not previously been public. 

The lawmaker in question was Neal Dunn, a physician-turned-politician who has represented Florida’s 2nd congressional district since 2017. Dunn, 73, earlier announced that he would not seek reelection, citing a desire to spend more time with his family. 

Before Trump’s comments, Dunn had not publicly discussed any serious health condition. Reports later indicated that his illness involved a severe heart problem, which required urgent medical attention. 

Despite the diagnosis, Dunn reportedly continued performing his duties in Congress, attending votes and meetings while dealing with the health crisis.
